Abdulbasit Al-Shaibei is the CEO and Board Director of Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), one of the leading Islamic banks in Qatar and the region. He has been at the helm of QIIB since 2000, steering the bank to achieve remarkable growth and success in the Islamic banking sector. He also holds board positions in several other prominent companies and organizations, such as EZDAN Holding Group, a real estate giant in Qatar, Medicare Group, a healthcare provider, International Chamber of Commerce, a global business network, and the American University of Sharjah, a prestigious academic institution in the UAE. He has a degree from the University of North Carolina and from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, USA, where he acquired valuable knowledge and skills in finance and management. He is a respected expert and speaker in Islamic banking and finance, and has been invited to share his insights and experiences at various international events and platforms, such as the World Policy Conference, the World Islamic Banking Conference, and the Euromoney Qatar Conference. In 2020, he received an honour from QIIB for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the bank and the industry, as well as his vision and leadership in promoting Islamic banking as a viable and ethical alternative to conventional banking.
